Google Introduces Generative AI Image Creation in Search

Google has unveiled a new feature in its search engine, allowing users to create images using generative AI-powered Search Experience (SGE). This functionality, which Microsoft introduced earlier this year, provides users with up to four generated images based on their query.

How it Works:

User Query: When a user submits a query, such as "create an image of a cute doberman with his fat owner sitting near a pond," SGE generates up to four images as search results.

Customization: Users can tap on these images to view expanded details generated by the AI. Additionally, they have the option to further customize the images by editing the description and adding specific details.

Safety and Availability:

Metadata and Watermarking: To maintain safety and authenticity, all images generated through SGE will include metadata labels and embedded watermarking to indicate that they were created by AI.

Language and Region Limitation: Currently, this image generation capability is available only in English in the US. It is accessible to users who have opted into the SGE experiment and are 18 years or older.

Upcoming Feature: About this Image:

Google is also working on a feature called "About this image" that will assist users in easily understanding the context and credibility of images.

Conclusion:

Google's introduction of generative AI-powered image creation in Search demonstrates the company's commitment to incorporating advanced AI features into its products. While similar features have been introduced by other companies, Google's implementation is aimed at providing users with a seamless and customizable experience in generating images based on their queries.
